DIED - JUNE 21, 2002 ** ANDY LEE STAMPER, 73, of Dunlow. Born Sept. 8, 1928, in Wayne County, a son of the late Goldie Hall Stamper and Henry Stamper. Preceded death by two daughters, Goldie Joan Curnutte and Teresa Gayle Stamper; one sister, Joyce Gayle Accord; one sister-in-law, Debbie Lynn Stamper. Survivors include his wife, Hazel Lee Ferguson Stamper; two daughters and a son-in-law, Linda Lee and Lester Ray Finley and Gloria Jeanette Salmons; four sons and daughters-in-law, Andy Ray and Dottie Meddings Stamper, Charles Leslie Stamper, Ronald Douglas and Evelyn Jane Marcum Stamper, and Barry David and Sherry Lynn Horne Stamper; seven sisters and brothers-in-law, Jewel and James Ferguson, Thelma June and Joe Marcum, Opal Sue and G.V. Williamson, Mary Jo and Ray Lovins, Betty Ruth Crabtree, Martha Kay and Jack Dickinson and Patricia Lynn and Dwayne James; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Bernard Ray and Georgia Stamper, Jerry K. and Wilma Jean Stamper, Henry Thomas and Regina Dillon Stamper and Johnny Dale Stamper; seven grandsons; three granddaughters; three great-grandchildren. Burial June 23, 2002 in the Stamper Cemetery in Dunlow.
 Gladys Ethel Smith, 86, of MacArthur, died Thursday, Jan. 22, 2004, at a Beckley health care facility following a long illness. Born Feb. 21, 1917, in Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Lloyd "Bud" Collins and Molly Stamper Collins. Mrs. Smith was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by eight brothers, Mack, Ever-ette, Lloyd, Dwight, Glenn, Raby and Charlie Collins and Steve Shupe; four sisters, Jean Gilmer, Lucille Martin, Lugene Anderson and Aileen Shupe; and a great-grandson, Shane Michael Smith. Survivors include her husband of 66 years, Oakley Smith; a daughter, Reba Phillips and her husband, Lowell, of Melbourne, Fla.; two sons, Frederick Smith, WWHS 1956, and his wife, Gay, of Orlando, Fla., and Roy Smith and his wife, Linda, of Charleston; two sisters, Betty Snow and Beulah Pentasuglia of Princeton; a brother, Arnold Collins of Ohio; nine randchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Service will be 2:30 p.m. Monday at Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel, Beckley, with the Rev. Homer Murray officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Beckley. Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Grandsons and friends will serve as pallbearers.
