Irving Albert Alston, Sr., 68, of Chapel Street, Dover, died on Feb. 7, 2006, at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital in Dover.
He was born on Aug. 28, 1937, in Passaic, N.J., the son of Wiley and Maggie (Stamper) Alston.
He worked as a Naval consultant at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in Portsmouth. He loved jazz and sports,
especially football, basketball, and baseball.
He is survived by his son, Irving Albert Alston, Jr., of West Orange, N.J.; his daughter, Sarah Seals of New York, N.Y.;
his sisters, Mary Coleman of Mt. Claire, N.J., and Vernette Cole of Port Charlotte, Fla.; his grandchildren, Briana and
Brittany Alston; many nieces, nephews, and cousins, and many good friends at St. John's Apartments, especially Lucille McCrone.
He was predeceased by his brothers, William H. Alston and Wiley P. Alston, Jr., and his sisters, Laura Manning and Emma Moody.
Private services will held at the family's convenience. Arrangements are under the direction of Wiggin-Purdy-McCooey-Dion
